17 earn high school equivalent diplomas

Seventeen people will receive their high school equivalent diploma Wednesday at the Department of Education Community School for Adults graduation ceremony at the Blaisdell Concert Hall.

The YouthBuild Honolulu graduates, ages 16-24, completed a 12-week construction vocational training course with Windward Community College; assisted in rehabilitating 12 public housing rental units in Wai'anae and Kalihi; assisted in building one new home for a low-income family at 'Ewa Villages; participated in service projects such as the annual Mo'ili'ili/McCully/Kaimuki recycling day, Iwilei community project with Institute for Human Services, renovation of the Waikiki kiosks, and graffiti cleanups in Kalihi, Mo'ili'ili and McCully.
