  • Outrigger Canoe Club — which celebrates its 100th anniversary next year — has named former Honolulu Club general manager MICHAEL AKO its new general manager.

  • The Honolulu Board of Realtors has named Nelson Higa director of strategic development. He will oversee the organization's public policy, government affairs and special projects. Higa is an almost 25-year veteran of the YMCA as executive director of the Nu'uanu, Central and Kaimuki-Wai'alae branches, and, most recently, district vice president.

  • THELMA AKITA-KEALOHA, a 25-year veteran of the non-profit industry, has been named Maui community director for Catholic Charities Hawai'i. Akita-Kealoha is the former president of Malama Family Recovery Center and is chairwoman of the Maui Tobacco Free Partnership. Serving Hawai'i since 1947, Catholic Charities Hawai'i, part of a nationwide private network of people helping people, helps over 27,000 people in need each year, regardless of their religious, social, or economic backgrounds.

  • Mitch Sipiala has been named director of human resources at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai on the Big Island. He will oversee the resort's employee performance standards and training, recruitment, and benefits administration. The Hualalai property, part of the master-planned 865-acre resort, consists of 243r ooms in 36 low-rise ocean-view bungalows. H.

  • Wendell Brooks Jr., a founding partner of Chaney Brooks & Co., has been named vice chairman and vice president of Kahala Senior Living Community, the parent company of Kahala Nui senior living community. Philip H. ChIng was named secretary for the board, and Dr. Lynette Kagihara and Roy King Jr. have been elected to the board of directors.

  • Crazy Shirts has named Ryan Chun marketing manager. He is responsible for development and execution of marketing plans and promotional strategy, oversees mail order catalog creation and production, and manages the e-commerce marketing programs.

  • Marriott Hawaiian Islands Hotels and Resorts has hired Todd Castor as market director of e-commerce sales. Properties include Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa and Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, as well as the JW Marriott 'Ihilani Resort and Spa, Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, Kaua'i Marriott Resort and Beach Club and Renaissance Wailea Beach Resort.

  • The Honolulu City & County Employees Federal Credit Union has named Bryan K. Agbayani senior branch manager, overseeing the Waikele and Waimalu branches. The financial institution has nearly 24,000 members and three branches.

  • LISA MARUYAMA has been named vice president of public affairs for public relations agency Bright Light Marketing Group. Maruyama is a former executive director of the Pacific and Asian Affairs Council and past executive director and public policy director for the Mental Health Association in Hawai'i.
