Ideas for trails to be discussed

Advertiser Staff

The Department of Land and Natural Resources' Na Ala Hele trails and access program will hold a public meeting Wednesday to discuss management of hiking trails within the Kula Forest Reserve. The meeting will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mayor Hannibal Tavares Community Center in Pukalani.

The majority of the trails in the reserve are in areas burned this year by a 2,300-acre fire. Once DLNR completes removal of burned trees along the road corridor, the trails will be reopened for public use, now expected in July. The meeting will allow trail users to discuss their ideas about restoration of the area.
