Champion's day 'simply, perfect'

I've been sitting here trying to gather the right combination of words to express the whole ambiance of what happened today. "Amazing" wouldn't do the day justice, nor would "incredible," "spectacular" or even "fantastic." It was simply, perfect.

With a 3-0 start in the first inning, we set a tone very early on in the game, leaving no room for Loyola Marymount to come back. Our defense and pitching were flawless and the majority of our lineup did something great at the plate. It was a game that was dictated by our actions, and they spoke loudly today, along with our adoring fans who had a huge potluck waiting for us after the game with kalua pig and cabbage, portuguese sausage, noodles and of course RICE!

Now, those of you who have been following us know that we have been staying in a hotel that just kept throwing us things to deal with (i.e. plumbing early in the morning, flooded rooms, etc.). Well, to top off the "eventful" week, we ended up getting kicked out of the hotel because they scheduled us as an early check-out! So, after our championship game win, we had to get to our rooms, pack up the vans and move into another hotel. That's the great thing about this team though. So many things can go against the grain or place us in situations we'd rather not be in, but we just deal with it as it comes and laugh about it hours later.

(The Super Regionals) is the farthest this program has ever gone in its softball history. We have made it through yet another step on our quest to make it to the World Series in Oklahoma City. We are stoked, but know there are tough games ahead to make our goal a reality.

"David (us) versus Goliath (Super Regional opponent Tennessee)," my senior counterpart likes to say. Tyleen (Tausaga) always gets us laughing with something crazy like that.
