Waiakea alum Amanda Wilson tied for 9th in NCAA golf

Arizona sophomore Amanda Wilson (Waiakea '05) shot a 1-over-par 73, good for a tie for ninth place after today's first round of the NCAA Division I NCAA Championships at the Legends Course at LPGA International (par 72, 6,351 yards).

Selannee' Henderson of UC Irvine led after a 69. The tournament concludes Friday.

Stanford sophomore Mari Chun (Kamehameha '05) is tied for 39th place after shooting 76.

Chun was earlier named to the Pac-10 Conference second team.

Idaho junior Kelly Nakashima (Baldwin '04) became the first Vandal to qualify for the NCAA Tournament. She is tied for 95th place (80).
