Singer Kenny Rankins plans June concert

By Wayne Harada
Advertiser Entertainment Writer

Singer Kenny Rankin, whose career spans 35 years, returns to Hawaii for a concert at 7 p.m. June 22 at Mamiya Theatre on the grounds of Saint Louis School.

Reserved seats are $35 and go on sale Saturday at Ticketmaster locations, including Times Supermarket locations and the Blaisdell Center box office. Phone charges may be made at (877) 750-4400; online sales will be at www.ticketmaster.com.

Rankin is a respected singer-composer-musician, who can switch from jazz to pop with seamless ease. One of his memorable recordings of The Beatles' "Blackbird" so impressed Paul McCartney that the Beatle asked Rankin to represent him and John Lennon when they were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
