UH coaches, AD to discuss ethics in college sports

Advertiser Staff

Would you cheat to win a game? Would you take steroids if you knew it would get you to the next level?

As a coach, where do you draw the line in recruiting a blue chip athlete? Phone calls? Text messages? Payments on the side?

Ethics in sports is always a hot topic — just ask Barry Bonds, Jason Giambi, Michael Vick and the thousands of other athletes and coaches who've had their mettle questioned.

Today, University of Hawai'i coaches and and Athletic Director Herman Frazier will join a panel discussion on the Ethics in College Sports. The discussion will be moderated by UH Business Ethics instructor Will K. Weinstein.

It starts at 6 p.m. at the UH Manoa School of Architecture auditorium and is open to the public. Joining Frazier on the panel are UH football coach June Jones, UH women's volleyball coach Dave Shoji and City College of San Francisco Athletics Director and football coach George Rush.

The event is free.
