A 20-year-old man and girl, 16, were arrested early today for allegedly assaulting two men last night in Kalihi.

The pair were passengers in a car that nearly hit a pedestrian crossing in a marked crosswalk, police said. For unknown reasons, the girl came out of the car and struck the 25-year-old male pedestrian in the face.

The 20-year-old passenger alledgedly threw beer bottles at the pedestrian causing a cut to his head and another man, 30, who was trying to help the victim.

The suspects fled but patrol officers stopped the car at 12:02 a.m. at Kaumualii Street and Waiakamilo Road.

Peter J. Tai Jr., 21, who was allegedly driving the car was charged with under-aged drunken driving. His appeared today at District Court.
