The National Basketball Association fined the San Antonio Spurs $50,000 for missing a practice-day media session a day after they beat Utah in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals.

The league said in a news release that the Spurs violated league rules yesterday by failing to make their players available for a scheduled media session. Those rules apply to both the regular season and the playoffs.

Tim Duncan's 27 points and 10 rebounds led the Spurs in their 108-100 win two nights ago. Deron Williams had 34 points, nine assists and seven rebounds to lead Utah.

Game 2 of the best-of-seven series is tonight in San Antonio.
