HAWAI'I KAI
Valley cemetery plans advance

Advertiser Staff

The proposed 69-acre cemetery at the back of Kamilo Nui Valley is in the process of finishing its engineer and architectural designs.

The owners, Chicago-based PRM Realty Group, plan to begin construction this year.

The cemetery was first proposed on preservation land in 2001. Paradise Memorial Park will be the first new cemetery on O'ahu in 50 years. To be built over the next 20 to 30 years, the first phase includes about 18,000 burial spaces, niches, a chapel and a mortuary, the company has said.

Correction: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that the city had granted a grading permit and that the drainage report was accepted by the city's Department of Planning and Permitting.
