HALE'IWA
Obon service lantern sale

Advertiser Staff

Hale'iwa Jodo Mission's annual obon service will be July 20 and 21 at 6:30 p.m., with the bon dance beginning at 8 each night.

Toro nagashi— floating lanterns out to sea symbolizing sending your ancestors back to the other shore — will follow the bon dance at 9 p.m., July 21.

The floating lanterns are for sale. Orders must be placed by mail or in person by June 2.

The Hale'iwa mission has continued the tradition of toro nagashi since 1957.
