Teen accused of filing false report, firearm offense

By Peter Boylan
Advertiser Staff Writer

A juvenile boy was arrested and accused of illegal storage of a firearm and filing a false police report in connection with the shooting of a 16-year-old boy Monday night in front of the 'Aiea Public Library.

Two teens originally told police that a black Toyota pulled up in front of them and their 16-year-old friend, and a man in the backseat opened fire.

Detectives determined the boys were playing with a .38 caliber revolver in the parking lot at about 10:40 p.m. Monday when the gun went off.

A single .38-caliber bullet hit the 16-year-old boy, identified by friends as Koamalu "Malu" Edayan-Lindo, in the chest.

Edayan-Lindo is in critical but stable condition at The Queen's Medical Center.
