Victim's father punches convict

Advertiser Staff

The sentencing for a man in an assault and firearms case was postponed yesterday morning after he was slugged in the face by the father of the assault victim, according to the judge's office and a spokeswoman for the Department of Public Safety.

Daniel Lista was to be sentenced in Circuit Judge Karl Sakamoto's courtroom when, prior to the proceedings, the father of the man punched Lista, leaving him with a bloody nose.

Lista, who was treated at the scene and released, did not want to press charges, and the father was not arrested, said Louise Kim McCoy, spokeswoman for the Department of Public Safety.

The sentencing was rescheduled June 29.
