By Catherine E. Toth
Advertiser Urban Honolulu Writer

A free concert and ocean awareness festival is scheduled for Saturday at Kapi'olani Park.

The ninth annual E Malama I Ke Kai, put on by Chevron Hawai'i and the Hawai'i Tourism Authority, will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the park and bandstand.

This annual event benefits Punana Leo O Kawaiaha'o, a nonprofit Hawaiian language immersion program.

It will feature live entertainment, ocean exhibits and activities, and keiki rides and games.

Some of the performers include Weldon Kekauoha, Hoku Zuttermeister, Kaumaka'iwa Kanaka'ole, Tony Silva of Da Bruddahs, Kainani Kahaunaele, She Rocks and 2006 Merrie Monarch winners Leina'ala Kalama Heine's Na Pualei o Likolehua.

More than 5,000 people attended last year's event.
