NO. 1 FRESNO STATE 10, NO. 6 SACRAMENTO STATE 2: In the Western Athletic Conference baseball tournament opener, Brian Lapin drove in four runs and Clayton Allison pitched a complete game for the Bulldogs (33-27) at Peccole Park in Reno, Nev.

Allison (10-4) allowed two runs, seven hits and two walks with six strikeouts for FSU. The complete-game, of course, saves the Bulldogs' bullpen for tomorrow's game.

Gabe Jacobo's solo home run in the top of the seventh cut the Hornets' deficit in half, but the Bulldogs again responded big, scoring five in the bottom of the seventh. The big blow was a grand slam by Brian Lapin, who was 2 for 5 on the day.

Mick Joyce (4-7) was tagged for nine runs and 10 hits, while striking out five in 6 2/3 innings for the Hornets (17-3(, who play in today'sfirst elimination game.

Chris Mols (Roosevelt) pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing a hit for the Hornets.
