Hawai'i high on list of households that ban smoking

Hawai'i ranks fifth in the nation when it comes to households that ban smoking within their confines, according to a new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report.The CDC said almost 8 out of every 10 homes here didn't allow smoking in 2003, according to a review of household surveys conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau. That was an increase from 1993, when 51.5 percent of isle homes banned people from lighting up.
Only Utah (88.8 percent), Arizona (82.4 percent), California (84.4 percent) and Oregon (81.4 percent) had more smoke-free households.
