FAA investigates near-collision of military, go! planes

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating an incident this weekend in which a C-130 military cargo plane came within 150 feet of a go! jet that was taking off from Honolulu International Airport.

The pilot of the C-130 apparently disregarded taxi directions by a Honolulu air traffic controller, who then ordered the pilot to immediately stop just as a go! jet roared past, said FAA spokesman Ian Gregor.

"It was definitely a heads-up move by the controller," Gregor said.

Gregor said the incident occurred on May 20 but an air traffic controller said it happened on May 19.
