Former Honolulu resident and PGA Tour player Parker McLachlin will return to Hawai'i to help kick off Waikoloa Beach & Golf Resort's annual summer junior golf program.
McLachlin, a Punahou School alum who represents the resort on the PGA Tour, will conduct a free clinic on the Kings' Course driving range Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by a putting challenge with the juniors. Admission is free.
McLachlin, 28, turned professional in 2003 and earned his PGA Tour Card for 2007. He holds the course record on Waikoloa's Beach Course, where he shot a 59.
The event will coincide with an introduction to this year's junior program, and Waikoloa's golf staff will accept registration applications on-site.
Waikoloa will once again offer a program for kids age 6-17 of all skill levels. Benefits include free clinics taught by Waikoloa's golf professionals, unlimited access to practice facilities at Waikoloa's Kings' Course, free play when accompanied by a paying adult, participation in Waikoloa junior golf tournaments and membership in the Hawai'i State Junior Golf Association.
