Norman Pang, principal of Holomua Elementary School in 'Ewa Beach, last night was named as the top winner of the Masayuki Tokioka Excellence in School Leadership Award — a $10,000 personal award and $15,000 to be used for a school project.

Eleven principals from around the state were nominated for the award presented by Island Insurance Foundation.

The nominees were recognized last night at a fundraising dinner for the Public Schools of Hawaii Foundation at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom.

This is the fourth year the award has been given out. It honors the late Masayuki Tokioka, founder of Island Insurance Co. Ltd.

In addition to Pang, nominated principals were: Duwayne Abe (Salt Lake Elementary), Nathan Aiwohi (Hanalei Elementary), Myron Brumaghim (Nanaikapono Elementary), Stanley Kayatani (Kalihi-Kai Elementary), Fern Markgraf (Kahului Elementary), Lloyd Matsunami (Kaumana Elementary), Steve Nakasato, (Mililani Ike Elementary), Mitchell Otani (Kane'ohe Elementary), Charlotte Unni (Ala Wai Elementary) and Claire Yoshida (Konawaena Elementary)
