Fresno St. eliminates Louisiana Tech in WAC baseball

Top-seeded Fresno State got a strong pitching performance from Justin Wilson to eliminate the third-seeded Louisiana Tech, 4-2, today in the Western Athletic Conference baseball tournament at Reno, Nev.Wilson (8-5) went six innings, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks with five strikeouts for FSU (34-27). Brandon Burke added three scoreless innings of three-hit ball for his fifth save.
Tech (35-24) jumped to a 2-0 lead in the sixth on an RBI-double by Chris Kersten, who later scored in the inning on a wild pitch.
But FSU responded quickly with three in the bottom of the frame on an Erik Wetzel solo home run and two-run homer by Steve Susdorf. The top seeds then got insurance in the seventh, scoring on a passed ball to make it 4-2.
Ryan Rupert (5-4) went 6 1/3 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits and a walk with eight strikeouts for Tech.
