UH wins in WAC baseball, 19-7; will face Nevada next

The game was called after seven innings because of the 10-run differential rule.
The Rainbows (34-24) will play Nevada at noon tomorrow in another elimination game. The Hornets (17-40) became the first team eliminated from the tournament.
Mark Rodrigues was denied his chance for his 10th win when he lasted just 3 1/3 innings after allowing five runs and 11 hits. Cameron Wheeler (1-0) pitched 3 2/3 innings of relief.
Alvaro Orozco (5-6) was tagged for nine runs in 1 1/3 innings for the Hornets.
Brett Tanigawa (Moanalua) was 4 for 4 for the Hornets.
The Rainbows took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Christensen singled with one, took second on a wild pitch, and after Justin Frash flied out to left, scored on Kris Sanchez's ground single to center.
Hawai'i chased Orozco when it sent 13 batters to the plate in a nine-run second inning. Christensen and Macdonald each had two-run singles and Hernandez had a two-run double among the big hits in the inning.
The Hornets got two in the bottom of the second on three successive singles including an RBI-hit by Tanigawa (Moanalua) and a sacrifice fly by Patrick Cummins to pull to 10-2.
The Rainbows tacked on four more in the third on RBI singles by Sanchez and Vinnie Catricala and a two-run double by Macdonald to make it 14-2.
The Hornets added a run in the third on back-to-back doubles by Blake Crosby and David Flores to make it 14-3.
Hawai'i scored in the fourth on a two-run home run by Christensen to make it 16-3.
Sacramento State added two in the fourth on a Cummins' RBI single and RBI single by Crosby to pull to 16-5.
The Hornets scored in the fifth when Gabe Jacobo led off with a triple to right and scored when Tim Wheeler grounded out to second to make it 16-6.
Hernandez's three-run home run in the sixth made it 19-6.
The Hornets added a run in the seventh on a balk.
