Tagawa's 'Johnny Kapahala' to air June 8

News Release

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa's new Disney Channel Original Movie, "Johnny Kapahala: Back on Board," will premiere on June 8.

The film is set in Hawai'i but was filmed in New Zealand.

The sequel to the popular Disney Channel Original Movie "Johnny Tsunami" sees snowboarder and surfer Johnny Kapahala return to his native Hawai'i to attend the wedding of his surf-legend grandfather, played by Tagawa. Johnny discovers he has a new step-uncle, a 12-year-old boy named Chris, who's a mountain boarder with a rebellious attitude. The wedding and the grand opening of the family's new surf shop are soon put in jeopardy by the turmoil Chris and Johnny create as they attempt to come to terms with each other and their newly blended family.

Brandon Baker stars as Johnny and dirt-boarder Akoni Kama appears as himself.
