Top-seeded Sharapova falls in Istanbul semifinals

ISTANBUL, Turkey — Top-seeded Maria Sharapova was upset by Aravane Rezai 6-2, 6-4 Friday in the semifinals of the Istanbul CupThe 20-year-old Frenchwoman, who is ranked 62nd, will meet Russian Elena Dementieva in Saturday's final of the clay-court tuneup ahead of the French Open.
Dementieva beat fifth-seeded Alona Bondarenko 7-6 (5), 6-2.
"It feels great," Dementieva said. "Now I'm looking forward to my first final of the year."
