Maui students win Yale Book Awards

News Release

Chloe Edinger of Baldwin High School, Kayla Meyer of Kamehameha Schools-Maui, Mattie Ross of King Kekaulike High School, Tyler Land of Maui High School, Lydia Lund of Seabury Hall and Sara Matasci of St. Anthony School received Yale Book Awards for 2007.

The award recognizes students for "outstanding personal character and intellectual promise." The award, a nationwide program coordinated through local Yale alumni, is presented to students at the end of their junior year at public and private secondary schools.

"We're pleased to honor these outstanding young people and their schools," said Yale Club of Hawaii President Jamie Brown. "The Book Award doesn't just recognize these Maui scholars for what they have accomplished already but hopefully inspires these students and their classmates and friends to continue to aim for greater things. We want to thank the six Maui schools for participating in this worthwhile program."
