Ever-evolving jewelry designer Lynda Caris of Muse IX Designs treats her gold, pearls, beads and semi-precious stones like a dream weaver, letting the materials dictate to her.

The Makiki-based Caris' current collection includes lariats of gold and pearls as well as floating jewels on a cord interspersed with Buddhas, coral and the exclusive gold-glazed beads she finds in Greece, her ancestral home.

Nohea Gallery at Ward Warehouse, which carries an exclusive line of Muse IX, will hold a trunk show and meet-the-designer event tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Caris will take special orders and work with brides to create a custom necklace to complement their wedding gown.

DENIM & DIAMONDS

Models will be wearing fashions from Adasa and jewelry from Phil's Gold & Diamonds in a show to benefit the Hawaii Dental Association Dental Samaritans from 6 p.m. to midnight tomorrow in the Hanohano Room atop the Sheraton Waikiki hotel.

Jordan Segundo, Rocky Brown and DeShannon Higa will take the stage, and a silent auction will feature a 2007 Saab, John Hardy jewelry and items generously donated by Louis Vuitton. More Models is producing the event. Tickets: $125. Reservations: E-mail Kim Koga at kimkogaodc@hawaii.rr.com.

MEET SAMANTHA CHANG

Kate Hudson and Paris Hilton are just two of the many fans of Samantha Chang lingerie. The New York-based designer, with a Las Vegas flagship store, is known for her underthings made of Asian-inspired prints trimmed with hand-dyed lace.

Chang will bring an exclusive trunk show of her designs to Morgan Beret Fine Lingerie and Bed Linens in Kahala Mall from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on May 26. Information: 735-8600.

NEW BOUTIQUES

  • Hawaiian Moon at Waikiki Beach Walk is the third location for the made-in-Hawai'i manufacturer of Island attire. (The others are at Ward Warehouse and Waikele Premium Outlets.) The line features exclusive prints inspired by Hawai'i's ocean, mountains, flora and native arts.

  • Loree Rodkin at Ala Moana Center is the brand's first American flagship store. Rodkin's jewelry is immediately recognizable by its modern-meets-medieval, romantic-meets-gothic designs. She gained pop notoriety after designing jewelry for Madonna, Cher and Steven Tyler. Virginia Madsen wore her distinctive designs at the Oscars and Golden Globes.

  • Recently opened urban-chic Precious Boutique at Aloha Tower Marketplace carries lines such as Harajuku Lovers, Juicy Couture, Chip and Pepper, Ella Moss and Charlotte Ronson. The shop will introduce Japanese high-end Samantha Thavasa handbags to the Islands for the first time. The bags have been seen on the arms of Beyoncé, Victoria Beckham and Penélope Cruz. Another Precious Boutique exclusive will be Evisu Genes, a vintage denim brand that uses old-fashioned looms for a vintage look and feel.
