Schofield soldier killed in Mosul, Iraq

A 22-year-old Schofield Barracks soldier died yesterday in Mosul, Iraq, a day after he was critically injured when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle, the Department of Defense said in a news release.

The soldier was identified as Pfc. Casey P. Zylman, of Coleman, Mich.

The explosion happened Thursday in Tallafar, Iraq. Zylman was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 4th Calvary Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team at Schofield Barracks.
