TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Chicago" (2002), 7 p.m., NBC. Hollywood is littered with failed musicals. Then one does everything right. "Chicago" started with a clever idea. It satirizes the way a suspect can become a media heroine, if she happens to be young and attractive. It adds sassy John Kander music and witty Fred Ebb lyrics. Rob Marshall — a stage director, doing his first movie — gave it great visuals and a splendid cast. Renée Zellweger plays the helpless (at first) Roxie and Catherine Zeta-Jones is the hardened Velma, with Queen Latifah as the warden. The film won an Academy Award for best picture and Zeta-Jones won for supporting actress.

OF NOTE

"Bring It On" (2000), 7 p.m. and "Bring It On: All or Nothing" (2006), 9 p.m., both ABC Family. While waiting for bigger things, actresses can play people in cheerleader competitions. The first film starred Kirsten Dunst, before "Spider-Man"; the second starred Hayden Panettiere, just before she became a saving-the-world cheerleader in "Heroes."

"Numb3rs," 7 p.m., CBS. An environmental group is believed to have set fires at four car dealerships. One fire kills someone; Don wants to figure out if it was intended as murder.

"Pleasantville" (1998), 6 p.m., CMT. No, we don't know what this movie has to do with Country Music Television. Still, it's a terrific story of teens (Tobey Maguire and Reese Witherspoon) who fall into a black-and-white, 1950s world.

"Saturday Night Live," 10:30 p.m., NBC. This reruns the show hosted by Jaime Pressly of "My Name is Earl," with music by Corinne Bailey Rae.
