Monday is Memorial Day, a holiday for most and a time to reflect on those who have gone before us, especially those who served in the military.

Monday's Lantern Floating Ceremony, in the Buddhist tradition, is a solemn and fitting way to pay tribute to the dead.

The event takes place at Magic Island, Ala Moana Beach Park, and all are invited. Prayer requests can be made from 1 to 6 p.m.; the ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. Donations are welcome. www.lanternfloatinghawaii.com.
