Felon charged with Makaha armed robbery

A 29-year-old man was charged Saturday with armed robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Joey F.K. Strom, who lists no permanent local address, is accused of robbing a man and woman, both 45, Tuesday in Makaha.

According to police, the couple were driving on an unimproved roadway at 11:15 a.m. when they came upon a man standing in their path displaying a gun.

The man ordered them out and fled with their vehicle.

Police arrested Strom Friday in Makaha.

In addition to first-degree robbery and two firearm offenses, Strom was charged with third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail. His initial appearance is set for Tuesday at District Court.

Strom was also arrested yesterday while in custody on two counts related to identity theft.

According to Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center records, Strom has six prior convictions.
