GOETZIS, Austria — Andrei Krauchanka held off Olympic champion Roman Sebrle and world champion Bryan Clay to win the Hypo Meeting decathlon today.

Olympic champion Carolina Kluft won the heptathlon, edging Lyudmila Blonska by 55 points.

Krauchanka, from Belarus, finished third in the 1,500 meters for a personal best score of 8,617 points.

Sebrle, a five-time winner of the Hypo Meeting, finished second with 8,518.

After the first five disciplines yesterday, Clay, a Castle High graduate, was poised to set a new world record, but finished 18th in the discus and third overall with 8,493.

Kluft had 6,681 points to win the heptathlon for a fifth straight time here, equaling the record of Jane Frederick of the United States.

The Swede fought off a challenge by Blonska, who won the javelin but missed a chance to overtake Kluft's lead by finishing seventh in the 800 meters.

Blonska, from Ukraine, had 6,626 points, followed by Jennifer Oser of Germany with 6,366.
