Lana'i High School athletic awards

LANA'I CITY — Nico Raqueno was named the male athlete of the year and Spring Divina was named the female athlete of the year at the Lana'i High School athletic awards ceremony on Thursday.

The Coaches Awards went to: Raqueno, Paul Bolo, Isiah Obrero-Zablan, Craig Tan, Clayton Richardson and Brenden Kaaikala in boys volleyball; Divina, Leslyn Suarez-Birano in girls volleyball; Ryan Tagatac in boys cross country; Shayna Obrero-Zablan and Elizabeth Quilinquin in girls cross country; Harold Badillo in boys wrestling; Maria Sedano in girls wrestling; Kim Oyama in softball; Pili Gella in boys paddling; Ualani Ohashi in girls paddling; Raqueno and Bolo in boys basketball, Divina and Ashley Richardson in girls basketball; Carrington Tamashiro in boys tennis; Chauntel Brines in girls tennis; Israel Zablan in boys golf; and Thea Costales in pep squad.

The award for Most Inspirational went to Masayuki Kihleng for the boys and Monique Oriol for the girls. Jervy Villa (boys) and Shayna Obrero-Zablan (girls) won the Sportsmanship award, and Dominador Uminga (boys) and Quilinquin (girls) were named Scholar Athletes.
