Students help humane society

Advertiser Staff

Queen Lili'uokalani Elementary School's student council members raised $200 this year for the Hawaiian Humane Society.

The money came from the school's recycling program.

Last year, the school donated $100, raised from recycling, to the American Red Cross to help victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Annually, the school participates in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Pennies for Patients coin drive. This year, students raised $530.

"I encourage our students to think about others," said Lori K. Yamada, the school's Parent-Community Networking Center parent facilitator and student council adviser.
