Earthquake education game released
Advertiser Staff
Ohana Quake Outreach has created a board game for schoolchildren, ages 7 to 12, to help talk about the repercussions from natural and other disasters.Called Quake Safe Place, the game aims to help children talk about their experiences and feelings while having fun. It addresses issues such as preparedness, emotions, spirituality, relationships and the child's own disaster experience. It's being taken for use in schools, after-school programs and summer camps.
"It facilitates a way for young people to share their feelings and process them," says Alice Bratton of Ohana Quake Outreach, which provides crisis and counseling services for reactions to earthquake disaster.
