Ex-UH guard Lojeski signs deal with Belgian team

Former University of Hawaii guard Matt Lojeski recently signed a contract to play professional basketball in Belgium next season.

"It's a real good opportunity, and it's a chance to play more basketball, so I took it," Lojeski said.

Lojeski, a 6-foot-6 shooting guard, signed with Okapi Aalstar, which is one of 10 teams in Belgium's Division I league.

However, Lojeski said he will still attend private workouts in June with the Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks and Utah Jazz.

"It's a long shot (to make the NBA), but I figured I might as well try it," said Lojeski, who is currently training in his hometown of Racine, Wis.

If Lojeski is able to sign with an NBA team, he can opt out of his contract with Okapi Aalstar.

Lojeski led Hawaii in scoring with 16.9 points per game, and assists with 4.5 per game, and was second in rebounding with 5.8 per game as a senior last season.
