Workers connect sewer pipe in Kailua neighborhood

Advertiser Staff

A city contractor will be connecting a newly installed sewer pipe near the Kukanono Wastewater Pump Station located at 705 Manu O'o Street tomorrow in Kailua's Pohakapu subdivision.

The work involves connecting the new force main — a pressurized pipe that transports sewage— to the pump station and existing pipes. Work is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., when wastewater flow is low. Tanker trucks will be standing by as a precaution to handle any increase in wastewater flow that might occur before the connection work is completed.

"We regret the inconvenience to the residents, but the work is absolutely necessary," said Eric Takamura, the city Environmental Services director. "We thank the residents for their understanding."
