"The Lion King," the highly anticipated Disney musical, is expected to extend its Blaisdell Concert Hall run by six more weeks, from Oct. 30 through Dec. 9.

An official announcement of the extension is expected tomorrow from Mayor Mufi Hannemann, a "Lion King" fan, and Jack Lucas, president of WestCoast Entertainment, in a press conference at City Hall. Details on when the new block of tickets will be available will be announced at this time.

The Tony Award-winning show will be in town Sept. 15 through Oct. 28. While the show officially premieres at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 16 (preceded by two preview performances, at 8 p.m. Sept. 15 and 2 p.m. Sept. 16), regular performances will be at 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays, and 1 and 6:30 p.m. Sundays.

Tickets are priced from $30 to $85, depending on play dates, with VIP packages available for $150 for all shows, which include premium seating, souvenir program and a show merchandise item.
