Okamoto, Yoshinaga receive scholarships from USTA

Kapa'a High School senior Kelli Okamoto and 'Iolani senior Sara Yoshinaga were awarded $5,000 college scholarships by the United States Tennis Association Tennis & Education Foundation and Mass-Mutual Foundation.They were two of 35 winners selected from the United States and Puerto Rico on the basis academics, community service and tennis.
Yoshinaga was the girls singles runner-up at this year's state tennis tournament. Okamoto lost in the first round of the girls doubles tournament.
Okamoto is ranked first in her class at Kapa'a and is a member of the Key, Japanese and Interact clubs on campus. She also volunteers at Princeville Public Library and was the recipient of the Girl's Statewide Athletic Award last year.
Yoshinaga volunteers with the USTA Hawai'i section and was the recipient of the Eddie Hamada Sportsmanship Award from 'Iolani. Yoshinaga was awarded the Jim Howe Sportsmanship Award from USTA Hawai'i last year.
