Maui News

WAILUKU – A 37-year-old man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges he sexually assaulted, kidnapped and stalked a 26-year-old sandwich-shop worker on May 8 while she was emptying the trash near her workplace at the Maui Mall, The Maui News reported.

Lorenzo "Niko" Clark is charged with first-degree sexual assault, attempted first-degree sexual assault, harassment by stalking, kidnapping and third-degree assault.

On May 8, the Subway sandwich shop worker said Clark followed her to a trash-bin storage area around 8 p.m., and sexually assaulted her.

The victim said she had been friendly toward Clark about two weeks before the incident after which he repeatedly made sexual suggestions to her.

Clark is being held on $304,000 bail at Maui Community Correctional Center.

At an arraignment Tuesday before 2nd Circuit Judge Shackley Raffetto, Clark entered the not-guilty plea, with trial scheduled for July 20.

A bail hearing is scheduled for Friday.
