Eddie Kamae & the Sons of Hawai'i make a rare public appearance when they kick off the Hawai'i Kai Towne Center's free Summer 2007 Sunset Serenade Concert Series at 5:30 p.m. June 9 at the Waterfront Stage of the shopping and dining complex.

Kamae is a musical renaissance man known for a trove of classic Island songs, including "E Ku'u Morning Dew," "Pua Hone" and "Wahine 'Ilikea," but he's had a secondary career as a prolific filmmaker of documentaries that capture the voices of Hawai'i's cultural legacies.

Kamae's CDs, DVDs and books will be available for sale and autographs following the show. Kimo Kahoano will emcee.

Future programs: Jake Shimabukuro, July 21; and John Cruz, Aug. 18.

The Hawai'i Kai Towne Center is on Keahole Street, off Kalaniana'ole Highway. Information: 941-0440.
