Family of late conductor creates scholarship fund

The family of the late Honolulu Symphony conductor and music director Donald Johanos is accepting donations for a scholarship fund.

The family of the late Honolulu Symphony conductor and music director Donald Johanos has announced that a memorial service is being organized for a later date, but, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Donald Johanos Scholarship Fund at : Interlochen Center for the Arts, P.O. Box 199, Interlochen, MI 49634; www.interlochen.org.

Johanos, who died May 29 in Naples, Fla., of natural causes, is survived by his wife, Jane; four children, Jennifer Johanos, of New York City; Thea Johanos-Kam, of Honolulu; Andrew Johanos of Colorado, Eva Johanos of Maui; Thelma Tremble, his first wife, and five step-children, Linda Ruttlidge, Leslie Brown, Tom

Ruttlidge, Bruce Trimble and Jane Hampdon, and 12 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Gregory, and by his second wife, Corinne.
