Intercepted meth parcel in Isles leads to conviction

Advertiser Staff

A federal jury earlier this week convicted a 26-year-old California resident of conspiracy to possess and distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine.

Kose Lasalle's sentencing will be Sept. 17 before U.S. District Court judge Susan Oki Mollway. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in jail and a maximum life sentence, along with fines up to $4 million.

In November 2006, a parcel destined for Honolulu from California was intercepted by Drug Enforcement Task Force agents, a statement from U.S. Attorney Ed Kubo said. A search of the parcel resulted in the discovery of approximately one pound of methamphetamine.

Investigators learned that Lasalle had traveled to Honolulu and then had the parcel sent to a particular address that he had obtained.

The case was investigated by agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration Airport Task Force.
