New wastewater pipe being connected in Kailua

A newly installed pipe near the Kukanono Wastewater Pump Station in Kailua will be connected by contractors today.Work is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., when wastewater flow is low. The work involves connection of the new force main (a pressurized pipe that conveys sewage) to the pump station and existing pipes.
Tanker trucks will be standing by as a precaution to handle any increase in wastewater flow that might occur before the connection work is completed.
