A local Maui breeder has donated 11 Paints and Quarter horses to the Hawaii Island chapter of the High School Rodeo Association's benefit auction slated for June.

Date of the auction was not released.

Lynn Nakkim, who has has been breeding horses at her Hamakua far the past 20 years, delivered the horses to HSRA director Richard Kaniho on May 2, a news release from the association stated.

"There are now 75 active youth members of this organization," Nakkim said. "If we reach the goal of raising $33,000 in this auction, it could fund  workshops and training sessions for these kids for the next couple of years."

Donated were racing Paints, a pregnant quarter horse, a black and white pinto yearling, a Kona Corean roan, a dark brown anglo arab and some horses bred for cutting and roping.

Nakkim said the donation is part of the  downsizing  her  HorseTales  Ranch.

Membership in HSRA is open to all kids, even those who do not yet own a horse.

For time and place of the coming auction, call Richard Kaniho at 885-4551.
