"Lion King" cast to visit Iolani

Members of Disney's "The Lion King" cast, including local girl Charlaine Katsuyoshi, who portrays a cheetah in the hit musical now at Blaisdell Concert Hall, will visit Iolani School from 11:50 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. next Wednesday.

Katsuyoshi is a 1994 graduate of 'Iolani and will share her experience and performance with the students. She will be joined by dance captain Jose Silva, musician Bob Garrett, "Timon" John Gardiner, "Pumbaa" Bob Amaral, "Simba" Clifton Oliver, "young Simbas" Nicholas Ashe and Trevor Jackson, and "young Nalas" Diamond Curvy and Jamani Epps.

The visitors will lead students in grades 4 through 6 through a dance movement with drum accompaniment in the Upper School Dance Room, from 11:50 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and will be available for a Q&A session.

Then the cast moves to Seto Hall, from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m., where a demonstration will be presented for a wider audience in grades K-12.
