Former Honolulu resident Parker McLachlin shot a 4-under-par 68 and Moanalua High School junior Tadd Fujikawa a 1-under-par 71 at the Children's Miracle Network Classic in Orlando, Fla., today.

McLachlin is in a tie for sixth place, while Fujikawa is tied for 57th. The early clubhouse leaders are Scott Verplank and Cameron Beckman at 6-under 66.

McLachlin and Fujikawa were paired together and started their rounds on the back nine.

For McLachlin, the stakes are higher.

The Punahou alum is a PGA Tour card-holding member. He is currently ranked 136th on the PGA money list. In order to keep his full PGA privileges, he would need to finish among the top 125.

This is the final PGA Tour event of the year.

McLachlin's round puts in position of getting into the top 125 year-ending money leaders.

His round so far puts him among the leaders.

McLachlin birdied the second, fourth and fifth and made the turn at 3-under 33.

He birdied his 10th to go 4-under but then bogeyed the 11th to fall back to 3-under.

He then birdied the 13th to go back to 4-under, and birdied the 16th to move to 5-under. On the 17th, he bogeyed the par-3 hole to stand at 4-under. He finished out his round with a par.

Fujikawa is seeking to make his first 36-hole cut in seven tries since turning professional in July.

Fujikawa started strong with three consecutive birdies on his second through fourth holes.

But he then bogeyed three of the next four holes and made the turn at even-par 36.

Fujikawa carded a birdie on the 10th but bogeys on the next two holes dropped him to 1-over. He followed that with a birdie on his 14th to pull to even.

But the diminutive youngster carded an eagle on his 16th —the course's par-5 seventh — to go to 2-under.

He gave back a stroke on the 17th, bogeying the par-3 hole to stand at 1-under. He completed his round with a par.
