Showdown in Chinatown film competition starts tomorrow

To celebrate its second anniversary, Showdown in Chinatown, usually a 48-hour film competition, will give filmmakers a week to complete a short of 7 minutes or less.

The topic for the Showdown in Chinatown Championship will be posted at www.showdowninchinatown.com at 4 p.m. tomorrow. The films are due at 4 p.m. Nov. 9.

The grand prize is $1,000 for the winning team, $300 for second place and $200 for third.

The top 12 films will be screened at the Island Independent Film Festival at NextDoor at 8 p.m. Nov. 10.

Following the showcase of films will be a live performance by Deshannon Higa and the Groove Improv Artists.
