Big Island gets $443K grant for drug-court team

The Big Island has been awarded a $443,405 federal grant to establish a Third Circuit Drug Court team to supervise and track high-risk defendants with drug problems, it was announced today in a news release.U.S. Attorney for Hawai'i Ed Kubo and Jay Kimura, the Hawai'i County prosecuting attorney, said the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services grant provides funding to hire two additional probation officers and one paralegal each for the prosecutor's and public defender's office.
