The Outdoor Circle and Kuhio Elementary School will plant a monkeypod tree today to replace the one cut down on the campus in July.

The tree is being donated by a former Kuhio student who was saddened by the loss of the 90-year-old monkeypod. The tree had to come down because it was a danger to students. The young monkeypod will be planted at 9 a.m. at the school, located at 2759 S. King St.

Students, Outdoor Circle officials, Kuhio alumni and lawmakers will attend the planting in honor of Arbor Day, which is tomorrow in Hawai'i.
