Hawaii stock index drops, led by Hawaiian Electric

Advertiser Staff

The Bloomberg-Honolulu Advertiser Hawai'i Index declined as the number of issues that fell outnumber those that increased.

The 11-member stock index fell 1.06 points to 95.40 as seven stocks declined, and four gained.

Leading the decliners was Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc., which was off $1.26, or 5.6 percent, to $21.42. The decline followed Hawaiian Electric's release of third quarter earnings, which showed the company's profit fell 38 percent from a year earlier.

Also dropping was Bank of Hawaii, which was off $1.20 to $50.14.
