McLachlin fires 69; Fujikawa shoots 72 but misses cut

Parker McLachlin stayed in contention while Tadd Fujikawa likely will miss another pro cut after the second round today of the Children's Miracle Network Classic in Orlando, Fla.McLachlin, 28, a Punahou alum, shot a 3-under 69 today for a two-round total of 137, 7-under for the tournament.
Fujikawa, a 16-year-old Moanalua High School junior, shot even par 72 today for a 141 total, 1-under for the tournament.
The projected cut is at 3-under for the 72-hole tournament that is the last for the year on the PGA Tour schedule.
Scott Verplank shot his second 66 to take the lead at 12-under 132.
Ryan Amour (69-64), Tag Ridings (67-66) and Stephen Ames (70-63) are at 11-under-par 133 overall.
Eight others, including Justin Leonard (67-67), Brett Wetterich (69-65), J.P. Hayes (65-69), Bart Bryant (69-65) and Sean O'Hair (68-66), are at 10-under 134.
Fujikawa, who was trying for the seventh time to make his first weekend cut since turning pro in July, had two birdies, but followed each with a bogey on the next hole.
He birdied the par-4 fifth hole, but bogeyed the par-3 sixth.
He birdied the par-5 14th, only to bogey the par-3 15th.
McLachlin bogeyed the par-3 third hole and recorded a front-nine score of 1-over 37.
But he rallied on the back nine. He eagled the par-5 10th to gain two shots. He then birdied the 13th, but followed that with a bogey-6 on the 14th.
He later carded back-to-back birdies on the 16th and 17th.
Finishing high on the leaderboard is crucial for McLachlin.
The former UCLA golfer ranks 136th on the tour money list and needs to get to 125 in order to keep his full PGA-playing privileges.
McLachlin, who tied for 12th in last week's Ginn sur Mer Classic and earned $91,125, has earned $597,557 so far this season. The 125th player has earned $758,734.
McLachlin is tied for 24th place as he heads into weekend play.
